National Seminar at Aryan Institute of Engineering and Technology

Bhubaneswar : 01 / 06 : A two days National Seminar on "Renewable Energy Sources to meet the Power Crisis" was inaugurated today in the premises of Ayan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Aryavihar by the department of Electrical Engineering. Eminent personalities like Er. R.P. Mohapatra , Rtd. Chief Engineer and Member(Gen), OSEB, Er. C.V. Krishna, Former Joint Director, OREDA and Dr. D.P. Bagarty, HOD, CET graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Chief Speaker and Guest of Honour respectively in the inaugural session . The Technical Session-I was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) D.P. Bagarty with Dr L K Bisoyi, Principal, SMIT as Cochairman and Technical session - II was chaired by Mr. B Sahu, HOD, ITER.

Out of the 56 delegates, 26 participants presented their papers on alternative sources energy to face power crisis. They focused on different sources of energy like : solar energy, biomass (including wood and wood waste, municipal solid waste, landfill gas and biogas, ethanol and bio diesel), water (hydro power), geothermal, wind power, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion and Tidal Energy. The topic is relevant in the present context as particularly our state is facing immense power shortage. Though, the use of renewable energy is not new but the seminar today, made aware all of looking again at renewable sources to find new ways to use them to help and meet our energy needs.The seminar was a grand success as different scholars from various institutions graced the occasion and enlightened the participants with their knowledge and wisdom.

Dr.Madhumita Panda, Chairperson addressed in the inaugural session presided over by Dr.Satyananda Swain , Principal. The seminar was coordinated by Prof.B.M.Das, Head of Electrical Engineering.Prof.P.C.Senapati, DSW offered the vote of thanks.

The plenary session was scheduled to be held with Dr P K Hota, Principal, CET as Chief Guest and Rtn Er Y P Kakkar as the Guest of Honour. It has been planned to forward the recommendations to all stake holders for necessary action.
